Waanyi Country

 

Waanyi country has so much to offer its own locals, let alone the rest of the Australian and International explorers. With the perennial Gregory River, the beauty of Boodjamulla National Park, mesmerising flora and fauna, the traditional custodian’s places of significance and the incredibly ancient fossil fields, the site with the oldest and least investigated fossils in all of Australia.

This map displays the predominant route taken by many domestic tourists throughout Northern Australia; from Cairns, through the Gulf of Carpenteria, to Darwin. As can be seen there is a huge appetite to visit the region, though with the establishment of a tourism industry, we hope to see further development of the access roads through the area. Waanyi Enterprises endeavour to supply tourist buses and guides to the fossil sites. As a consequence of this, we hope to provide accommodation services on Waanyi country for visitors to sustainably visit, stay and explore the ancient country and natural beauty.

 

Waanyi Fossil Site Tours

 

The oldest known fossil sites in Australia have only recently been opened and released to the public, the archaeologist and dinosaur lover’s dream, Riversleigh Fossil FIelds, will have tours run daily from Adel’s Grove, Gregory and Riversleigh to the fields with professionally trained and observant local guides. The tours will be distinct from any opportunity anybody has ever had before and enable Waanyi Enterprises to further promote the Museum and Art’s Centre at Riversleigh.

Accommodation

 

Waanyi land has a plethora of beautiful locations where the weary traveller can set up camp. This has had a number of negative effects though; litter, river pollution and contamination, local discontent and tourists impeding on each other’s space. To alleviate this issue, as well as to receive the surplus that stay at Adel’s Grove, we hope to develop, operate and maintain an accommodation alternative. This would provide tourists with a location that provides bathroom facilities, showers, cooking facilities, power and an allotted parcel of land that may be utilised for parking and setting up camp sites.
